Verónica: Lighthearted Outlook

Exercising is how she starts her day. At 6 am she works out for an hour, has breakfast, and connects to tutor her students.  Feeling well and eating nutritious food are top of mind as she continues to maintain a healthy weight. She wants to feel good and grow old being as healthy as possible.

“My favorite project is focusing on my body.”

Selfcare is a responsibility, is being conscious that we are in charge of the well-being of our bodies and not neglecting it as one of the essential parts of our beings. Veronica is also very aware of nurturing her spirit. She has a profound faith and lives by it. From doing right by others to casually stealing smiles with her cheery jokes, she shows the love she sees exemplified in her Christian roots on every step she takes.

Going through hurdles in life, feeling blocked both personally and professionally at times, she has been able to come out to the other side with renewed hope and clear sight. Her inner strength comes from praying for wisdom and guidance. She opens up to advice. As well, she finds great support in her life partner.

“I love my relationship with my husband, it fills me. He is my support, my friend, my tear collector, my smile producer, and my help to go forward. He truly loves me without restraints.”

She wishes they could travel together to new places more often. During their free time, they enjoy doing internal tourism in Puerto Rico and visiting the island’s colorful tropical locations worthy of instagramable photos. This pairs up well with Veronica’s love for fashion. She has many dresses and quirky outfits that she enjoys wearing and accessorizing. Expressing her individuality through her garments has gained her many compliments and praise.

“If I could wear a completely different outfit every day for the rest of my life, that would make me extremely happy.”

This fashionista also has some pretty serious goals, she wants to be a homeowner. Having a home to express her personality would be so satisfying and a huge accomplishment. She grew up in a humble home, but one undoubtedly full of love, faith, and happy moments. Raising her, her older sister and younger brother, Verónica’s parents didn’t have many things. However, they made sure to provide the necessary and went above and beyond to instill in them values that would set them up for success in life.

“My favorite childhood memory was getting a pink and purple bike that looked just like a motorcycle. I was so excited because I really wanted it.”

This present meant so much to her, she had earned it, it was her Christmas reward for being well-behaved. She grew up knowing that is important to make an effort and be a good human to get where you want to be in life. There are no freebies and it won’t be easy at times.

“My first job was at a fast-food restaurant. I had just turned 18 and my sister told me: ‘You start Monday’. She got me my first job!”

She worked her way through college, where she aimed at becoming a physician. Eventually, she decided to pursue a degree in biology education. Looking back, she realizes she could have continued her studies to become a doctor in medicine, but she wouldn’t change the satisfaction of seeing her students’ glowing faces when they learn new things for anything in the world. Transferring knowledge and guiding her students to develop their potential is the most rewarding. After all, she is a living example of pioneering and venturing to new horizons. She was the first one to graduate college in her family.

Having a family and her career, as well as being of service to others, fills her with joy and satisfaction. She has plenty of love to give to those around her, including her furry daughter Macarena and Buster, the neighborhood dog, who adores her. He doesn’t live with her, but she feeds him, pets him, and bathes him constantly.

“They are smart, independent and extremely loving creatures.”

The more love she gives, the more she receives. All around there are things to be grateful for and she will tell you about how loved and supported she has felt throughout her life even through the most difficult and complicated times.

“Be strong and courageous”, she says citing the Bible and affirming her positive outlook at life. The good things remain those highlights that remind you all the time how precious and priceless life is. Whether it is revisiting her wedding day or the times she has been recognized as a superb teacher by her students and peers, Veronica knows her path has been and continues to be blessed with opportunities to share all she has to give and who she is with others.

And if she can make you laugh along the way, why not?
